Chapter 795 - 496: Message Crow Room, The Lost Era
Chapter 795 - 496: Message Crow Room, The Lost Era
The so-called Message Crow Room is a small stone house attached to the castle.
Even before stepping in, one can smell the odor of bird droppings.
However, this scent is much fainter than that of the Griffin’s Nest.
The small house contains two rows of iron cages lined with straw.
Inside the cages, there are about seventy or eighty Message Crows.
These are clever birds, looking somewhat like ravens.
The only difference is their color; Message Crows have a tuft of white feathers on their beaks and necks.
They have a good sense of direction and can endure long-distance journeys.
Their abdomens are full and muscular.
These muscles are the secret to their long-distance flying ability.
When their physical strength is exhausted and there’s no food available, they decompose their muscles.
In this world, they serve a similar role to carrier pigeons.
Every Bang City and even some villages have Message Crow Rooms.
However, in reality, they are rarely used in Bang City.
In emergencies, Bang City has a more convenient way of transmitting messages.
Capable of quickly conveying information thousands of kilometers away to a Giant City.
If relying on the Message Crows, it would be too slow.
Yet, this does not hinder the existence of the Message Crows.
The ground nearby is completely barren.
Every few steps, there’s a patch of bird droppings sprinkled with some white.
It’s unclear whether it’s because it’s shady or because of the bird droppings that no grass grows here.
Zong Shen quickly walked to the door and knocked on the metal iron door.
"Dang dang!"
"Please come in!"
Baron Bezos’s voice came from inside.
Zong Shen nonchalantly pushed open the iron door.
As he entered the small house, he saw Baron Bezos focused on writing something.
There was an elderly man, wearing a gray-brown robe, standing silently by the side.
The small house had a faint smell of bird droppings, but it wasn’t strong.
"Lord Bezos!"
Seeing the other engrossed in writing, Zong Shen greeted proactively.
Only then did Baron Bezos have time to look up.
"Younger Brother Zong, you’ve arrived!"
He quickly stood up and greeted him warmly.
The elderly man, however, remained silent and sensibly stood to the side.
"Lord Bezos, I came this time for the ruins of the Lion Knight Order you mentioned before."
"I’ve brought the elite warriors from my territory along with a Great Griffin, waiting outside the city."
Zong Shen said with a smile.
For him, this trip to Boss Bang was simply to explore the ruins, without much planning.
"I’ll notify the Bang City Army to escort them."
"Younger Brother Zong, why didn’t you ride a Wild Boar this time?"
Baron Bezos patted Zong Shen on the shoulder, casually asking.
Zong Shen immediately caught on.
His expression didn’t change, maintaining his previous smile.
"Lord Bezos, you’re joking."
"How can a Wild Boar be faster than a Griffin?"
"Besides, you should know, my place is adjacent to the mountains."
"There’s plenty of Wild Boars and Grassland Wolves."
"Even the Great Griffin I rode this time was captured from the forest."
Zong Shen said with a smile, and Baron Bezos nodded lightly.
"Indeed, compared to a Griffin, a Wild Boar isn’t that rare."
"You’ll need to wait for me for a moment, Younger Brother Zong."
"I’m just about to finish writing the report document."
Baron Bezos said as he returned to his seat, picked up the feather pen, and dipped it in ink to continue writing.
While writing, he explained.
"The Governor of Bang City needs to write a report document every month."
"Reporting Bang City’s development to the Giant City."
"Using the ancient method of Message Crows to convey information."
"Of course, we have more advanced ways."
"But they’re not needed in daily times."
Zong Shen didn’t say much, simply nodding silently.
Baron Bezos spoke no further, continuing to write diligently.
After about ten more minutes, he filled an entire sheet of paper.
He carefully unfolded the sheet, allowing the ink to dry to prevent smudging, then rolled it up.
On the desk was a candlestick with a metal spoon, in which some red, viscous sealing wax was melting.
Baron Bezos rolled up the paper, carefully poured a bit of the sealing wax on the seam, and allowed it to cool slightly before pressing it with a metal seal, leaving a mark.
He then handed the sealed scroll to the gray-robed old man.
The old man received the scroll, bowed slightly, and left the small house.
Remaining silent throughout the process.
Once he had dealt with his tasks, Baron Bezos stood up with peace of mind.
He stood up, putting his arm around Zong Shen as they left the Message Crow Room.
As they left, they saw the old man placing the scroll in the message capsule attached to a Message Crow’s leg.
With a toss of his Two-Handed grip, he released the Message Crow into the sky.
Baron Bezos walked Zong Shen to the front of the castle, arm in arm.
He waved to call over a steward, instructing her to notify the Bang City Army to take the patrolling Light Cavalry to Boss Bang to meet the warriors and Great Griffin brought by Zong Shen.
Zong Shen felt assured, following Baron Bezos into the castle.
It was just the afternoon, perfect for preparing a grand welcoming banquet.
Watching Baron Bezos nonchalantly issue a series of commands.
The two of them then ascended the stairs directly.
The banquet required preparation time, and the warriors and Eagle also needed time for reception.
